About Me
I have over a decade of experience in the media industry, as well as a BA Honours in Journalism and Media Studies obtained from the University of the Witwatersrand.
I believe in the ethical ideals and morals as put forth by the South African Constitution. These beliefs extend into my journalistic approach. I am a firm believer in media
independence but that reporting must be balanced and fair. To the best of my abilities, I subscribe my journalistic approach to practices as dictated by the ethics code as set by the South African Press Council. I understand the concepts of defamation, the sub-judice rule, hate speech and the provisions attached to the freedom of speech and the right to privacy. I am conscious of the need to avoid ethical dilemmas, such as a conflict of interest, breach of privacy and untruthfulness in both reporting and editing.
I understand that the world we live in is reaching a singularity with regards to technological and digital advancements and that for the media to survive it must adapt to these innovations and paradigm shifts. I am active within that digital space and frequent social media and international news platforms daily.
